Regulatory Approval
Insurance is a heavily regulated industry and this is unlikely to change. Being on top of the regulatory regime and managing the relationships well with the regulators is essential for any insurance business.
I am an Underwriting Management expert and have:
- Built the underwriting management functions of two Lloyd's managing agencies.
- Built a Lloyd's syndicate from scratch
- Delivered Lloyd's Minimum Standards approval for 3 managing agencies
Communication and Teamwork
Insurance depends on a complicated network of relationships between different stakeholders, both internal and external.
Creating a positive and construction environment materially improves quality and productivity. I have material experience in:
- Developing and delivering both external and internal communication strategies
- Building teams that work for each other
- Preventing the creation of silos

James Cooper
I have worked in the London insurance market since 2000, working for an MGA, Brokers and Lloyd's Managing Agencies. In my last two roles I have been responsible for securing the regulatory approval for the underwriting functions of two managing agencies and the design and build of a brand new Lloyd's syndicate.
I help insurance companies work out what they want to do and help them achieve it. From the simple questions of "what shall we do?" to "how can we make this better?". I know what "Good" looks like and what works.
